چکیده

We measure the evolution of the velocity dispersion–temperature (σ v–TX) relation up to z = 1 using a sample of 38 galaxy clusters drawn from the XMM Cluster Survey. This work improves upon previous studies by the use of a homogeneous cluster sample and in terms of the number of high-redshift clusters included. We present here new redshift and velocity dispersion measurements for 12 z > 0.5 clusters observed with the Gemini Multi Object Spectographs instruments on the Gemini telescopes. Using an orthogonal regression method, we find that the slope of the relation is steeper than that expected if clusters were self-similar, and that the evolution of the normalization is slightly negative, but not significantly different from zero (σ v ∝T0.86±0.14E(z)−0.37±0.33). We verify our results by applying our methods to cosmological hydrodynamical simulations. The lack of evolution seen in our data is consistent with simulations that include both feedback and radiative cooling.

We present new spectroscopic observations of the most distant X-ray selected galaxy cluster currently known, XMMXCS J2215.9−1738 at z = 1.457, obtained with the DEIMOS instrument at the W. M. Keck Observatory, and the FORS2 instrument on the ESO Very Large Telescope. Within the cluster virial radius, as estimated from the cluster X-ray properties, we increase the number of known spectroscopic c...

The XMM Large - Scale Structure Survey : An initial sample of galaxy groups and clusters to a redshift z < 0 . 6 ⋆

We present X–ray and optical spectroscopic observations of twelve galaxy groups and clusters identified within the XMM Large–Scale Structure (LSS) survey. Groups and clusters are selected as extended X–ray sources from a 3.5 deg XMM image mosaic above a flux limit 8 × 10 erg s cm in the [0.5–2] keV energy band. Deep BV RI images and multi–object spectroscopy confirm each source as a galaxy conc...

Influences of Heterogeneities and Initial Stresses on the Propagation of Love-Type Waves in a Transversely Isotropic Layer Over an Inhomogeneous Half-Space

In the present paper, we are contemplating the influences of heterogeneities and pre-stresses on the propagation of Love-type waves in an initially stressed heterogeneous transversely isotropic layer of finite thickness lying over an inhomogeneous half space. The material constants and pre-stress have been taken as space dependent and arbitrary functions of depth in the respective media. To sim...

Dispersion of Love Wave in a Fiber-Reinforced Medium Lying Over a Heterogeneous Half-Space with Rectangular Irregularity

This paper concerned with the dispersion of Love wave in a fiber-reinforced medium lying over a heterogeneous half-space. The heterogeneity is caused by the consideration of quadratic variation in density and directional rigidity of lower half-space. The irregularity has been considered in the form of rectangle at the interface of the fiber-reinforced layer and heterogeneous half-space. The dis...

An Analytic Study on the Dispersion of Love Wave Propagation in Double Layers Lying Over Inhomogeneous Half-Space

In this work, attempts are made to study the dispersion of Love waves in dry sandy layer sandwiched between fiber reinforced layer and inhomogeneous half space.Inhomogeneity in half space associated with density and rigidity and considered in exponential form. Displacement components for fiber reinforced layer, dry sandy layer and inhomogeneous half-space have been obtained by using method of s...
